Vesta Marie Berglund was born in a rural farmhouse near Slayton, Minn., the first of three children to Arthur and Melba Carney on Dec. 18, 1935. Vesta grew up on her parents’ family farm north of Lake Wilson, Minn. She attended school in Lake Wilson and was baptized at Lake Wilson First Methodist Church.

Rose June Olson, 96, of Humboldt, formerly of Bode, passed away on Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2024, in the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Steven Newbrough passed away peacefully at his home on August 7, 2024, surrounded by his family after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. Son of Fritz and Deke Newbrough of Lake City. Steve was 71 years old.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted. Big Man - Big Life

Steven H. Studer, son of Julius P. and Minnie (Willemina) H. Studer, nee Scheppmann, was born on April 4, 1945, in Algona. Steve was the 11th child and was followed by three  younger siblings. He died at home in Irwin under hospice care on Aug. 5, 2024, at age 79.

Becky Ellen Rengstorf, 76, of Britt, passed away July 26, 2024. Becky was born in Eagle Grove on Jan. 20, 1948, to Mardell and Janie Rengstorf.

The family later moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. where Becky would grow up, attend school and meet her future husband.

Carole Welp, 89, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Bancroft, died Thursday evening, July 25, 2024, at her home in Chandler, Ariz. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft. Her family will greet friends on Friday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft.

Funeral Mass for Ruby Heinen was celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.  at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Ruby Mae Heinen was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Whittemore,  the daughter of Harold and Florence (Parson) Frambach. She grew up near Whittemore and attended country school through the 8th grade. After her schooling Ruby helped at home around the farm.

A visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Corwith Community Center in Corwith. Burial was held in the Lu Verne Township Cemetery in Lu Verne.
