Karen M. “Kay” Talbot died Monday, March 4, 2024, at the age of 88. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Church in Algona. Lisa Uyder, 59, of Novato, Calif., passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from complications of a hiatal hernia. Lisa was born on April 20, 1964, to Dwight and Karen Kirchner, in Wayne, Neb.

After Lisa graduated high school, she went on to enter the Army, where she served our country from 1983 to 1986. After completing her service, she started her career in insurance and Hospice care.

A graveside service for Brian Munyer, 71, of Ledyard, will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft. Brian died Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Titonka Care Center.

Brian Lee Munyer was born Dec. 6, 1952, in Blue Earth, Minn.; son of Fred and Eleanor (Sanders) Munyer. He grew up in Ledyard and graduated from Ledyard High School in 1971.   Brian retired from working in 2020.

Shirley Schmitt, age 65 of Algona, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Funeral service was 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Visitation was 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.

Rodney A. Schmidt, 74, of Burt, died Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society, Algona.

His family will greet friends on Saturday, March 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Water’s Edge Nature Center, Algona. Private family graveside services with military honors conducted will be held at a later date at Fenton Township Cemetery, rural Lone Rock.

Scott Bruce Miller of Prescott, Wis. passed away Dec. 21, 2023, of a lengthy illness.

He was born April 16, 1947 in Algona to Roberta Simpson Miller and Irving “Pudge” Miller.

Scott owned Scott’s Taxidermy and became a Master Taxidermist winning many national awards for his work.

A funeral service for Gerald S. Pedersen, 86, of Ledyard will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church in Ledyard. Burial will follow at Highland Home Cemetery in Ledyard with military honors conducted. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Funeral service for Linda Davis was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. Burial was at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Irvington.

Linda Kay Davis was born Aug. 19, 1947, in Emmetsburg the daughter of Archie and Edna (O’Clair) Halstead. She grew up in Emmetsburg where she also attended school. After her schooling she moved to Algona and began working as a waitress.

A memorial service for Janice Folkerts of Titonka was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Ramsey Reformed Church outside of Titonka. Burial was held at the Buffalo Township Cemetery outside of Titonka. A visitation was held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Ruby Willidine (Hoff) Thomas was born April 22, 1926, in Britt; the daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen (Maxam) Hoff. She grew up and attended school in Britt.

John A. Vigdal, 73, passed away unexpectedly early morning on Sunday, Feb. 25 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, with family by his side.
