Creating mats to protect people from the elements

Late on a Wednesday afternoon at the Algona Methodist Church, volunteers of all ages are busy working on a mission project weaving plastic sacks on a handmade loom. What are they creating? Sleeping mats for those who don’t have beds and need barriers from the ground moisture.
“We are helping people sleep better at night. We have real beds, but they do not,” Emily Oldenkamp said.
