Obituaries are paid announcements in the Kossuth County Advance. If you are not placing the announcement through a funeral home, payment is required prior to publication and proof of death is required. The cost is $8.50 per column inch of type (published as two columns in the Advance) plus $10 per photo. If you do not want to use our format, you will be directed to the advertising department for purchase of space in the newspaper at the regular rate of $11.90 per column inch.

You can submit an obituary that is already written by emailing obits@algona.com, and you can attach a photo to that email. If you want us to write the obituary from information you have, complete the form in total and submit it. Note that we do edit obituaries for consistency in styles in terms of dates, state abbreviations, paragraphs and other matters.
