She attended Algona Community Schools and graduated from Algona High School with the class of 1977. On June 24, 1978, Laure was united in marriage to Robert “Bruce” Kent at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Together the couple raised two children: Wade and Alexa. Laure was a devoted wife, mother and grandma “Gee.”

Laure was known as a “Shopping Queen” and always put so much thought and love into the gifts she gave. She loved jewelry, antiques, crafts, attending stock car and sprint car races, showing her prized Mustangs at car shows with Bruce and watching John Wayne and Gunsmoke movies. Laure was able to recite all of them by heart. She was passionate about cooking and you would often find her reading cookbooks and preparing amazing dishes. Laure always loved when friends and family would ask for her recipes or say they had a new favorite dish after tasting what she had just prepared. She cherished her time at Lake Okoboji and watching the sunsets over West Lake. She loved her time at “The Shed” at the farm with her family and friends. Her love for her grandchildren and her heart of gold will always be cherished.

Left to cherish Laure’s memory are her husband of 46 years: Bruce of Algona; children: Wade (Joslyn) Kent of Mason City and Alexa (Trent) Langenwalter of Algona; grandchildren: Ace “Acer”, Navy “Navs”, Steele “Ducky” and Asher “Little Rattler”; brother: Dirk (Toni) Hoover of Brock, Texas; sister-in-law: Kristy Kent of Simpsonville, S.C.; nephews: Chad Camp of Tallahassee, Fla., Ben Camp of Alexandria, Va. and Tim Camp of Asheville, N.C.; and her beloved dogs Pearl and Chica.
