Wolverines grab first win of the season

Lead Summary

/*-->*/

It has been a tough first 10 games for the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines’ baseball team as they had been shut-out in six of those contests.
But things came together for the purple-and-gold on Thursday. June 8 at Gilmore City as the Wolverines won a 9-6 non-conference game over the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears.
The visitors started fast in the top of the Joel Vaske singled and scored on a two-out double off the bat of Chase Hatten.  Drake Buscherfeld was hit-by-a-pitch, Andrew Meister singled to score Hatten and Drew Bacha laced a single to plate Buscherfeld for a 3-0 advantage.
West Bend-Mallard immediately answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning as Cole Hoskins singled and Hunter Jergens drew a base-on-balls.
Jeff Riesenberg ripped a double that scored Hoskins and Jergens came across the dish when Thad Fogarty reached on an error to make the score 3-2.
