Russell H. Fisher, 101 of Algona, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2022, at the Algona Manor.
Russell was born May 13, 1921, on the family farm in Rodman. Russell attended country school and would help on the family farm. Russell would later farm his own land in Kossuth and Winnebago counties, until his passion for cars would turn into a new lifetime career.
He married Betty Eichorst in 1964. They lived in Fairmont, Minn. and Mason City where Russell owned new and used car dealerships. He enjoyed watching WWE, selling cars, dancing, driving fast, being with family and friends and telling jokes. Russell will be remembered for being a kind and generous person who was filled with warmth and compassion, but most of all for spreading happiness with his deep belly laugh.
Memories of Russell will be cherished by his children: Phyllis Shortenhaus of Buffalo Center, Julie (Terry) Stundahl Algona, Medical Wounded Combat Retired Lt. Colonel Dr. Steven (Colleen) Fisher of Bellevue, Neb. and Carolyn Fisher of Whittemore. Russell was a proud grandparent of Brenda, Steve, Deb, Randy, Scott, Amber, Cory, Nathan, Tara, Matthew, Angie, Adam, Ryan, Amara, Brent, Desiree, Jenny and Jessica and great-grandfather to 37.
Russell is preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents and siblings, his daughter Shari Fisher, stepdaughter Sandee Lusk, son-in-law Jim Shortenhaus, granddaughter Dr. Brenda (Shortenhaus) Eisenhauer and great-grandson Creighton Reitz.
A private family graveside memorial will be held Sept. 24. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
