Rose Ann Mondragon was born Sept. 15, 1936, on a farm west of Algona, daughter of Edward and Lucille (Wilson) Rich.  Rose graduated from Algona High School in 1954.

In earlier years, Rose worked as a secretary at Winkel Law Office and also was a nurses-aid at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Being a mother to her nine children was her most cherished honor. Rose enjoyed reading, crocheting and bird watching. She always had a large garden of vegetables and flowers in her yard. She had a great sense of humor. She loved being surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her faith was very important to her and she was an active member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. She proudly was a volunteer for numerous years at the Kossuth County election polls.

Rose Mondragon died Sunday, Jan. 29 at the age of 86.

She is survived by eight children, JoAnn Taylor of Fort Dodge; Tammy Cook of Mason City; Colleen (Ron) Lohman of Algona;  Bill (Sandy) Mondragon of Denver, Colo.; Julie (Terry) Seehusen of Humboldt; Kelly (Jeff) Carlton of Titonka; Amy (Michael) Menke of Ankeny; and Tom (Courtney) Mondragon of Algona;  She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Arliss Rich of Algona; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Michael in 1975; three sisters, Mary Gappa, Phyllis Lamuth, and Jean Platt; and two brothers, Ed Rich Jr. and Tom Rich.

A Funeral Mass for Rose Mondragon, of Algona was held today  (Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023), at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.oakcrestfuneralservices.com.
