Ronald Wayne Anderson, son of Arnold and Alma (Justen) Anderson, was born July 16, 1945, in Woodstock, Ill. He grew up in McHenry, Ill. and attended St. Mary grade school and graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School with the Class of 1963. Ron attended Regis College in Denver, Colo. for three years before enlisting in the United States Army in 1967. He was stationed in the Old Guard at Arlington Cemetery until his honorable discharge in 1969. After serving his country, Ron worked at Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. for many years, moving to various cities throughout Pennsylvania. From 1994 to 2011 Ron sold real estate in Berkley Springs, W.V. and was very successful at it. He retired to Algona in 2011.
Ron was very hard working, rarely missing a day of work in his life. He was always the first to arrive and last to leave the workplace. When his children were young Ron coached youth sports. He especially enjoyed baseball. In later years he loved to read, care for his yard and watch sports. He was an active member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona and could be seen praying the rosary with the Knights of Columbus, though he was not officially a member. He also deepened his faith by praying and spending time in Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel at St. Cecelia. As a resident of West Bend Health & Rehab Ron enjoyed playing dominoes and a competitive game of cribbage. He helped other residents and never left someone sitting alone. Ron was a private, reserved man with simple joys in life and one who focused on ethics.
He died June 9, 2023, at West Bend Health & Rehab in West Bend at age 77. Survivors include Ron’s daughter Melissa Anderson of New York City, N.Y.; sons Michael W. Anderson of Harrisburg, Pa. and Eric W. Anderson of Detroit, Mich.; granddaughter Lily Anderson, a sophomore at Penn State University; brother Gary Anderson of McHenry, Ill.; and sister Marcia D’Agaro of S.C. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Alma Anderson and brother-in-law Ezio D’Agaro.
