Randy Ray Binning
April 16, 1953 — August 31, 2021
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. It will be livestreamed on Divine Mercy’s YouTube Page. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Randy Ray Binning was born on April 16, 1953, in Storm Lake, son of Francis and Bonnie (Kuper) Binning. He grew up in Storm Lake graduating from Storm Lake High School. In his younger years he worked with his dad at Jubilee in Storm Lake before his family moved to Algona. Randy started working at Snap-on when he first moved to Algona and continued working there until his retirement in 2019.
On Nov. 20, 1981, he was united in marriage to Colleen DeSloover in Fort Dodge. To this union were three children: Stacy, Amy, and Scott. Randy and Colleen were later divorced.
Randy enjoyed dirt track racing, high school sporting events, video games, going out to eat, and gathering with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son, Scott. He was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones, Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Twins.
Randy died Aug. 31 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. He was 68.
He is survived by his children, Stacy Miller of Cedar Rapids, Amy Binning of Algona, Scott Binning of Algona; aunts; uncles; cousins; and special friend, Terry Whitacre.
Preceding him in death are his parents and his sister, Dixie Binning.
