Interment took place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Lotts Creek. Visitation was Friday, Sept. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lotts Creek.

Genelle Louise Sanders, the daughter of Nickolas and Libia (Linneman) Sanders, was born on Oct. 1, 1930, in Forest Green, Mo. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1948. Genelle was 19 years old when she accepted a desperate call from her former teacher, who was then living in Iowa, to teach grades K-4 at the Lutheran School in Lotts Creek. She had just finished her first year of college at Kirkville, Mo. going to school on a music scholarship. While teaching, Genelle met Gerald, a farm boy at Lotts Creek, and they were married in a small country church in Forest Green, Mo. on June 10, 1951, and came back to farm in the Cylinder area when Gerald was discharged from the service.

Genelle was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, an organist for 40+ years, assisting with the Christmas programs all those years and actively involved in LWML. She was also a 4-H leader. Gardening was always her passion and with gardening comes canning. She enjoyed embroidering until her eyesight failed then she started painting kitchen towels. Genelle loved baking. It only took a hug and a kiss to receive her homemade bread. Another passion was fishing. She loved their trips to Canada with friends and family as well.

Genelle loved her family and cherished her time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish Genelle’s memory is her husband of 72 years, Gerald; children, Jerry (Rachal) Kuecker of Tuscumbia, Ala.; Janet Kuecker of Cylinder; Jane (Tim) Naig of Cylinder; Jim (Judy) Kuecker of Cylinder; and Julie (Zach) Medard of Eagan, Minn. Her six grandchildren, Dr. Amber Naig, Dr. Brian (Michelle) Naig, Michelle (Jon) Kuecker-Dowdle, Audrey (Dustin) Amenda, Kyla Naig, Tom (Nikki) Kuecker; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Shirley Paul of Beardstown, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dementia Society of America (PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901).
