Donna Hurlburt, age 85 of Lone Rock, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Accura Healthcare in Bancroft. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial took place at Fenton Township Cemetery. Visitation was  5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lone Rock Presbyterian Church. Services are livestreamed on Lentz Funeral Home’s website.

Donna Jean Hurlburt was born Nov. 14, 1937, to William and Lillian Zumach. She attended school in Lotts Creek and graduated from Fenton High School in 1955. On Sept.  2, 1956, Donna and Merwyn Hurlburt were united in marriage at Lotts Creek Lutheran Church. Donna enjoyed a lifetime on the farm with her husband and family. She loved music and sang in the church choir, community choir and the Lone Rock Rockers who performed at local events and nursing homes. Donna loved to collect things such as Precious Moments, Beanie Babies and Christmas villages. She enjoyed painting ceramics, cross-stitching, playing Bingo and jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of the Lone Rock United Presbyterian Church where she spent her adult life being involved in the women’s groups. She was also a member of the Lone Rock Community Club and involved with the planning and execution of yearly events, the Diamond Jubilee and Centennial celebrations. Donna and Mert enjoyed visiting Texas during the cold Iowa winters and attending musical events and shows in Branson, Mo.

Left to cherish Donna’s memory are her children: Candyce (Donn) Rochette of Ayrshire; Andy (Trudy) Hurlburt of Nixa;  Mo.; Tony (Theresa) Hurlburt of Lone Rock; Terry (Theresa) Hurlburt of Aurora, Colo.; Christine (Jeff) Canepa of Morgan Hill, Calif.; and Stacie (Tom) Vanderplaat of Sheldon; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merwyn; her parents; two brothers; Paul and Dennis and two infant granddaughters.
