Funeral Mass for Donald Kollasch will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at the Divine Mercy Parish - St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at St. Michael Parish Center. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

Donald William Kollasch was born April 11, 1928, in Whittemore, the son of Michael and Louise (Salz) Kollasch. He grew up on a farm near Whittemore and attended school at Presentation Academy in Whittemore, graduating in 1946.

After his schooling Donald began to farm until he joined the military. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge Donald returned to Whittemore and continued farming until his retirement.

Donald was a true farmer at heart and loved being on the farm and working with his John Deere equipment. He also enjoyed competing on his bowling team for many years, going to dances and playing cards.

He was a member of the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post #425 of Whittemore and the VFW Post #2541 of Algona and St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he was a member of Holy Name.

Donald, 94, a resident of the Algona Manor Care Center for 18 years, died there Saturday, Oct. 15. The family would like to thank everyone at the Manor for their care and kindness.

He is survived by his sister, Norma Lee Illg of Whittemore and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lavonne Ruppert.
