A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Trinity Algona’s YouTube page. Burial will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Algona. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Algona.
Delores K. Hansen Hackbarth, the daughter of Anna Petersen Hansen and August Hansen was born on May 6, 1930, in Ringsted. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She attended country school and then came to Ringsted School where she graduated in May of 1948. From there she went to Cosmetology School in Des Moines. On March 11, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hackbarth at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ringsted. They lived in Algona all of their married life. To this union, there are two children. David of Adair and Nancy of Kirkland, Wash.
She worked in Fenton for a time and then came to Algona. In 1976, Delores started working at the Good Samaritan Beauty Shop and continued to work there for 30 plus years. Delores has volunteered many places over the years including serving on the Good Samaritan Auxiliary Board and Resident Advocacy Committee and also various church groups. She helped coordinate through the Trinity Lutheran Church the monthly birthday parties for the Good Samaritan since the early 1970’s. Delores was honored in 2005 as the Volunteer of the Year at the Good Samaritan Society. She was active in her church, loved her garden and flowers. She did lots of sewing including making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren for many years.
In March of 1988, Kenny left to be with his lord after a battle with cancer. They loved to dance at various ballrooms with their many friends.
Delores died Saturday, June 24 at Good Samaritan Society, Algona. She was 93.
Left to cherish Delores’ memory are her children: David (Roxann) Hackbarth of Adair; Nancy Hackbarth of Kirkland Wash.; her grandchildren: Megan Hackbarth, Alex Hawn, Cole, Glenn (Kassidy), Sophie and Taylor Hackbarth; her great-grandchildren: Justine and Milo Hackbarth, Kiernan, Ezra and Lola Hawn. Sister: Mary Henricksen of Armstrong; sister-in-law: Sylvia Hansen of Ringsted and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, her sisters; Patricia Butler and Betty Leverenz; her brothers, Robert, Leroy and Jerry; sisters-in-law, Violet Hansen and Ann Laabs; brothers-in-law, Richard Butler, Jerry Henricksen, Clarence Leverenz, Ray Laabs and Herbert Hackbarth.
