Alfred Baade, son of Dick and Marie (Plaisier) Baade, was born Jan. 7, 1932, at Titonka. He was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka and confirmed at the Good Hope Lutheran Church, Titonka.

Alfred attended grade and high school at the Titonka Consolidated School, graduating in 1950. From 1953 to 1955 Alfred served in the U.S. Army, serving one year in Korea. He then served in the Army Reserve until 1961.

Seven years after retiring he worked on his own repairing combines in the surrounding area. He had a keen knack for fixing anything that needed repairing or building something for the home.
