John Uhlenhake

March 14, 1927 — Aug. 23, 2017

After a courageous yearlong battle with illness, and with the same fierceness of his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, John (Jack) Uhlenhake was reunited with his Heavenly Father and beloved wife Delores on Aug. 23, 2017.
Jack was born in Lake City, Minn., to John Peter and Mary Helen (Doughan) on March 14, 1927. Jack grew up in Whittemore, where he attended Presentation Academy. In 1944, Jack left high school to serve in the Coast Guard, later graduating from Loras College and beginning a lifelong career in bookkeeping.
Jack and Delores started their family and moved to Lee’s Summit, Mo., where he and his family lived for 55 years. Jack’s love of the Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Royals was only surpassed by his love for God, his beautiful wife Delores McKenna, his children John and Patricia Uhlenhake, David and Wendy Uhlenhake, Jane and Robert Lowe, and Mary and Mark Foell, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He leaves behind his sister, Marge and her husband Harry Esser, and two sister-in-laws Carol and Mardelle McKenna, along with many nieces and nephews. All who knew him will miss his dry wit and sensibility.
Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 28 at 9:30 a.m., while the funeral Mass started at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Presentation, 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Donations may be made to the St. Joseph Guild, Our Lady of Presentation. For Liebe wintert nicht, for Love knows no winter.
Arrangements by Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, Mo.
