LAKE MILLS—Despite great rounds from Drew Henderson and Cobe Eischen, the North Union Warrior boys’ golf team lost a tight Top of Iowa Conference match at the Rice Lake Golf Course on Monday, April 22.

Lake Mills placed first with a team total of 159 as Forest City finished in second place with a 162 and North Union ended up in third place with a team score of 171.

LAKE CITY—On Thursday, April 18, the West Bend-Mallard boys and girls golf teams went on the road for a Twin Lakes Conference match at the Lake City Country Club against the South Central Calhoun Titans.

The purple-and-gold boys fell to the Titans by the final score of 178-201. Charlie Nattress of South Central Calhoun was the medalist of the meet as teammate Caleb Gaffney was the runner-up medalist with a score of 44.

MASON CITY—The Algona Bulldog boys’ track team placed fifth overall with 180 points in the team standings at the Dave Long Relays held here on Monday, April 22.

The red-and-black won a pair of events as Max Nevitt won the discus with a throw 135’ 6” along with the sprint medley crew of William Weichert, Tate Garman, Ashton Moreno and Evan Allie in 1:39.12.

ALGONA—Remaining perfect on the year, the Algona Bulldog girls’ golf squad swept a non-conference triangular that was played at the River Road Golf Club on Friday, April 12.

The red-and-black won the meet with a team total of 205, edging Estherville-Lincoln Central by one stroke and North Union finished in third place with a score of 237.

ALGONA—Winning six events during the evening, the Algona Bulldog girls track squad claimed the team title at the annual Hannover Relays that took place on April 9 on the Algona High track.

The red-and-black topped the nine-team field with a final team score of 134 points while Bishop Garrigan ended up in a tie for sixth place with Webster City with 36 points.

ARMSTRONG—Both the North Union Warrior and West Bend-Mallard Wolverine boys’ track teams competed on Monday, April 15 at the Tom Elliott Relays.

The Warriors finished in sixth place with a team total of 41 points, just ahead of West Bend-Mallard in seventh place with 26 points as West Hancock took the team title with a total of 166.3 points.

ARMSTRONG—North Union finished in third and West Bend-Mallard took fourth in the annual Jim Godfredsen Relays held on Monday, April 15.

The green-black-and-silver girls amassed a total of 87 points during the evening with the Wolverines scoring 65 as Forest City took home the team title with a team total of 136 points.

SPIRIT LAKE—A pair of second place finishes highlighted the performances of the North Union Warrior girls track squad at the Spirit Lake Invitational held on Tuesday, April 9.

The green-black-and-silver ended up in fifth place in the team standings with 45 points as Spirit Lake won the seven-team meet with a score of 178 points.

CLEAR LAKE—Winning five events during the night, the Algona Bulldog boys track team finished in second place at the Lion Relays on Tuesday, April 9.

The red-and-black compiled a team total of 139 points that was topped by only Clear Lake’s team score of 163 points in the eight-team field.

Max Nevitt was a double winner for the Bulldogs as he took the shot put with a heave of 50’ 2½” and the discus with his winning throw of 141’ 6”.

LAKE MILLS—Earning gold medals in three different events, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys track team tied for fifth place with a team total of 67 points at the Bulldog Relays held on Thursday, April 11.

The black-and-gold tied with Central Springs with 67 points in the 12-team meet as West Hancock placed first with a score of 176.5. Amaury Thomas was the lone individual winner as he flipped the discus 130’ 11”.

ESTHERVILLE—Freshman Nathan Manske earned the medalist honor as the Algona Bulldog boys golf team split a non-conference triangular on Friday, April 12 at the Estherville Golf & Country Club.

Estherville-Lincoln Central compiled a winning team score of 169 as Algona took the runner-up spot with a 171 and North Union finished in third place with a 184.

MALLARD—Sophomore Drew Henderson of North Union shot a two-under par 34 but Algona won a non-conference boys golf triangular meet of three area squads played at the Spring Hills Country Club on Tuesday, April 9.

The red-and-black had a winning team score of 161 as North Union finished in second place with a total of 170 and West Bend-Mallard took third place with a score of 192.

LIVERMORE—Bishop Garrigan played host to a pair of Top of Iowa Conference opponents on Thursday, April 11 at the beautiful Spring Valley Golf Course.

For the ladies, Bishop Garrigan placed first with a team score of 209 followed by Forest City with a 245 as North Union finished in third place with a total of 272.

SPENCER—Algona finished in eighth place in a tough 15-team field at the annual Spencer Invitational played at the Spencer Golf & Country Club on Monday, April 15.

The red-and-black had a team total of 333 during the day as Carroll Kuemper won the team title with a score of 311, three strokes better than the Humboldt Wildcats.

Josh Matheson of Emmetsburg had the low score of the day with a one over-par 73 while Carson Sleiter of Humboldt was next with a 74.

LAKE VIEW—West Bend-Mallard won three events and took second in six more at the Raider Relays held on Friday, April 12.

The purple-and-gold girls amassed 109 points during the 19 events that was only topped by Ridge View’s score of 143 points in the nine-team field.
