Renee Ann Young was born in Algona on July 15, 1950. She graduated from Algona High School in 1968. Renee married Bill Roeber on Aug. 9, 1975. They lived in Whittemore. Bill died in 1982, and Renee raised their three daughters by herself. Renee married Ron Rochleau on Nov. 22, 1999. They moved to Algona in 2015. Renee died in Mason City on Dec. 9, 2023.
Renee was an amazing mom who taught her daughters to care for others by her own example. She was an outstanding grandma who got down on the floor and played with her grandkids, developing a special relationship with each of them. Renee always fought for the underdog. She was a lifelong Hawkeye fan who loved watching games with her husband, Ron. Renee loved eating Spudnuts at the Spencer Fair or enjoying dirty margaritas by the water in Clear Lake with her lifelong best friend, her sister Kris. She was irreverent and absolutely hilarious.
Renee was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Roeber, her dad, Dixon Young, her in-laws, Wilbur and Vera Roeber, and her aunt and uncle Genevieve and George Olsen. She is survived by her mom, Shirley Young, her husband, Ron Rochleau, her siblings, Clint (Sue) Young, Kris (Alan) Zimmerman, Darrick (Karen) Young, and her children and grandchildren, Jenny (Corey) Douville, Olivia, Evelyn, Tate, KJ, and Konnor, Jamey (Jesse) Cassels, Amelia, Sophia, and Eliza, Louisa (Bryan) Montague, Dorothy, and her nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be directed to 43 North Iowa, who provides supports for people with disabilities. Private family services will be held for Renee at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
