Sharon Miller, 86 of Algona, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, S.D. Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Burial took place at Hampton Cemetery in Hampton. Visitation was on Monday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Services were entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
Carole Ann Hayes was born in Marshalltown on Jan. 25, 1939, and passed on Sept.1, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born to the late John Millard Hayes and Thelma Beatrice Kirkpatrick. Preceded in death by her parents and good friend Betty Green. Surviving family includes brother, Kirk Hayes (Julie Hayes) plus nieces and nephews John Bourne Hayes, Kirk Jeffrey Hayes, William Thomas Hayes and Carolyn Jean Hammer.
David “Dave” Anderson, 90, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at Homestead in Algona. He had been residing there with his wife, Pat, since November 2023. Prior to their move to Homestead, they lived on their acreage in rural Burt for 53 years.
Tom Erpelding, age 63 of Burt, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, in his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Cecelia in Algona. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 5, from 4-7 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.
Funeral Service will be at the Swea City Community Church in Swea City at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, with Pastor Todd Hartsock officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Beverly will be laid to rest at Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City.
Beverly Rae (Pope) Gamble, 82, of Swea City, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 25, 2024.
Ron was born to Ervin and Helen Gerber on March 14, 1936 in Algona and grew up on the family farm just southwest of Algona. After high school graduation, Ron enlisted in the Navy and spent most of his service at Cecil Field Naval Airport in Jacksonville, Fla.
Bruce A. Schutjer, 70, of rural Woden, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, from injuries sustained in a UTV accident near his farm.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woden, with Pastor John Heille officiating. Burial was at Bingham Township Cemetery south of Woden.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Burial was held after the mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wesley.
Vesta Marie Berglund was born in a rural farmhouse near Slayton, Minn., the first of three children to Arthur and Melba Carney on Dec. 18, 1935. Vesta grew up on her parents’ family farm north of Lake Wilson, Minn. She attended school in Lake Wilson and was baptized at Lake Wilson First Methodist Church.
Rose June Olson, 96, of Humboldt, formerly of Bode, passed away on Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2024, in the Long Term Care Unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
