Dorothy Louise Butterfield was born June 26, 1945, in Algona, the daughter of Benjamin “Ben” and Margaret (Sankey) Butterfield. She grew up near Seneca where she also attended school.

James E. Hewett, 78 of St. Peter and formerly of Algona, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Sand Prairie Assisted Living in St. Peter, Minn.

Edna Hanselman, age 100 of Algona formerly of LuVerne, passed away Wednesday April 5, 2017, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services were held on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, with the Rev. Eric Hauan officiating. Burial took place at LuVerne Cemetery in LuVerne. Visitation was held until the time of the services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.
MASON CITY — Roderick Lemeual Demetrius Lewis, 18, of Mason City, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with the Rev. Victoria Clark of New Foundation Christian Fellowship Church in Phoenix officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.

Earl Lee Loss was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Kossuth County Iowa, the son of Stephan and Isabell (Decker) Loss. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. After his schooling he began farming with his brother.
