Sonia Dahl, age 75 of Algona, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at Lentz Funeral Home.
Sonia Sue Marrs, the daughter of Eugene and Lola (Oard) Marrs, was born on Sept. 10, 1948, in Levant, Kan. In 1965, she graduated from Brewster High School in Brewster, Kan. Sonia attended beauty school in Manhattan, Kan. She met Tim Dahl in Manhattan while he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan. They were united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1978, in Manhattan, Kan.
Sonia worked as a clerk at convenience stores. She was good with people and loved her customers at Cargo Express. Sonia enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and yardwork. She was very competitive, especially playing bags and euchre. Family was very important to Sonia and she loved spending time with her granddaughters.
Left to cherish Sonia’s memory is her husband of 45 years, Tim; a son, Jacob Dahl and his wife Cheryl of Indianola; granddaughters, Piper, Paige and Talyn Dahl; brothers, Dwight (Mona) Marrs of Goodland, Kan. and Marvin Marrs of Brewster, Kan.; and a sister, Linda White of WaKeeny, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Aaron Hudson.
