As a young girl Jeanne was involved with Girl Scouts and 4-H. She started piano lessons and learned to play by ear. Family members were awakened some mornings by the sound of her playing. Jeanne attended Bishop Garrigan High School where she was active in Drill Team and Choir, graduating in 1975. They were married April 3, 1999, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale. The couple made their home in West Des Moines. Jeanne retired in 2020.

Jeanne was someone who liked to take charge, but she was also a tender-hearted and giving person. As the oldest daughter, she was the mother hen of the family.
