Janice Elaine Hulme was born Feb. 26, 1940, at home north of Woden, daughter of Edward and Doris (Ankeny) Hulme. Janice grew up on a farm with her siblings Ronald, Gary and Lynda. In her early years, she attended Grant Township country school through 8th grade and graduated from Woden High School in 1957. She attended Hamilton’s Business College and worked a year for Mason City Brick and Tile.

Janice was united in marriage to Frank Ehno Folkerts on July 24, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage before Frank’s passing in 2020. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Denis. Frank farmed and Janice worked at Titonka Savings Bank for 55 years until her retirement on Dec. 31, 2014. Janice was active in the community and an active member of the Doan United Methodist Church and later the Titonka United Methodist Church.

Frank and Janice enjoyed their trips to Montana, Hawaii, Canada, Germany, and throughout the USA. She enjoyed writing poems, photography, and making greeting cards using the pictures and poems she had created on many of them. She also enjoyed cooking, nature, birds, flowers, cards (solitaire and 500), board games and entertaining family and friends in their home. Most enjoyable and her greatest blessing was her family.

On March 5, 2024, Janice, at the age of 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
