A funeral service for Emmaline May “Emmy” Sewick, 90, of Algona, was held Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery in Algona.

Emmaline May “Emmy” Sewick was born May 9, 1933, in Whittemore, daughter of Werner H. and Emma A. (Ostwald) Gade. She grew up in West Bend graduating from West Bend High School. Emmy was united in marriage to Ray Sewick on Nov. 14, 1954, in West Bend.

In earlier years she worked for the telephone company. Emmy loved being with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and tending to her flowers.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church being active in the Ladies Aid and she also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Emmaline May Sewick died Tuesday, April 9 at the Algona Manor Care Center at the age of 90.  She had been a resident there since December of 2022.

She is survived by her five children, Deb (Randy) Swanson of Manson, Randy (Lori) Sewick of Algona, Jolene (Frank) Mueller of Algona, Scott (Julie) Sewick of Algona, and Todd (Diane) Sewick of Algona; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-geat-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Darlene (Richard) Jergens of Gilmore City and Judy (Vern) Wagner of Audubon; sister-in-law, Kathleen Gade of Emmetsburg; two brothers-in-law, Howard (Peggy) Sewick of Leon and Max (Lorraine) Sewick of Bakersfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray on March 9, 2011; two brothers, Milford Gade and Richard Gade; and two sisters, Delores (Bernard) Richter, and Lorraine (Earl) Bell.
