Delores Long, age 89 of Algona, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona with Rev. Briton Nelson officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Algona. Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 22 at 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Delores Mae (Haack) Long was born May 11, 1934, in Whittemore to Herman and Dora Haack. She was baptized on May 27, 1934, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fairville.
She attended country school, then Fenton Elementary and St. John’s Parochial School in Fenton. She was confirmed on March 21, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fenton. She graduated from Fenton High School in May 1952.
She was married on Nov. 14, 1954, to Roger L. Long at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fairville.
She worked as a secretary at Sentral Community School for several years. After moving to Algona, she worked as a secretary in the Algona Community School system.
She was an election official for 20 years and was a member of the Algona Garden Club and Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. She taught calligraphy in adult education classes and enjoyed gardening and sharing surplus vegetables.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 2020 and by her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her son, Durwin, and many nieces and nephews.
