Funeral Mass for Carol Elmore will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. with a CD of A Rosary beginning at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish YouTube page. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Carol’s name. Donations will be made in her memory at the discretion of her family.

Carol Joan (Studer) Elmore was born on Sept. 18, 1937, in Wesley the daughter of Julius and Caroline (Wingert) Studer. At a young age her mother died and her father was remarried to Minnie Scheppmann. Carol attended school in Wesley before going on to attend high school at the Good Counsel Academy in Mankato, Minn., graduating in 1955. After her schooling she returned to Algona and went to work at Bohannon Insurance for the next eight years.
On Sept. 9, 1961, Carol was united in marriage to Earl Elmore in Wesley. After their marriage they lived in Algona and Carol stayed home to raise their children. Carol later went back to work part time at Pioneer and the Columbia Events Center, as well as volunteering throughout the community.
Carol enjoyed square dancing with Earl, baking, cooking, traveling, and playing cards with her “Crazy Eight” card club, she especially enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren. Faith was foundation to Carol and she was a very active member of St. Cecelia Parish, singing in the choir, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, serving in New Dimension and a regular in the Adoration Chapel. She was also a member of Friends of the Library, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Cecelia #283 and volunteered at the Food Pantry and Bishop Garrigan.
Carol died Friday, March 8 at the Algona Manor Care Center at the age of 86.
Left to cherish her memory are Carol’s children, Kathy (Steve) Struecker of West Bend; their son, Andrew (Brittany) Struecker and their children, Anna, Jackson and Levi Struecker; Susan (Craig) Burnham of Grinnell, their children, Jacob (Erica) Schaefer and their children, Julia and Ben Schaefer; Emily Schaefer; Kate (Trent) Banes and their daughter, Ella Banes; David (B) Elmore of Linton, Ind.; their children, Logan Elmore; Allison Elmore and her daughter, Amara Wence; Jace Elmore; Karen (Brandon) Jondle of Callendar, and their children, Ryan, Lucas and Tyler Jondle; Beth (Thomas) Jost of Melbourne, Fla., and their children, McKenzie (John) Sanders and their children, Derek and Olivia; Nick, Mallory and Thomas Jost, Jr.; Sarah (Michael) Lorance of Centennial, Colo., and their children, Gabriella and Joe Lorance. Also surviving are siblings, Kathleen (Bienve) Studer-Perez of Seattle, Wash.; Steve (Hope) Studer of Irwin; Gerald (Mary) Studer of Lewisville, Texas; Margaret Studer of Anacortes, Wash.; Rose Studer of Kent, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Rosalee Studer of Algona and Ruth Barillas of Forest Hills, N.Y., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; granddaughter, Breann Smith; siblings, Sr. Rita Studer, Sr. Madeline Studer; Stanley Studer, Vincent Studer, Cletus Studer, Marvin Studer, Phillip Studer and Virginia Orthel.
