FENTON — Carol Jane (Bierstedt) Meyer died on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. She was 80.  
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fenton with the Rev. Mark Resner officiating. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18 at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. 
Carol Jane (Bierstedt) Meyer the daughter of Emil and Erna (Gade) Bierstedt was born April 13, 1936 in Fenton.  
 She was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fenton. She attended St. John’s Parochial school, graduated from Fenton High School and then attended Waldorf College.
 On July 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to James Meyer.  They lived in Fenton since 1959 where they owned and operated Meyer Oil Co. and Meyer’s Stop & Shop.  She worked at the First Trust & Savings Bank and Bank Midwest.  
Carol was active in St. John›s Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, playing the organ, directed the choir for 26 years, also a member of LWML, where she served many offices, and she was a member of the Fenton Community Club and held offices in Sentral Music Mothers. 
For hobbies, she sure enjoyed the Ladies Bowling Team, golfing, camping, fishing, playing cards and enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Left to cherish Carol’s memory are her three children, Marcia Jacobsen of Fenton; Dan (Kathy) Meyer of Armstrong; Mark Meyer of Algona; six grandchildren: Dillon and Morgan, Gavin and Tatum, and Kevin and Kim; great-grandchildren: Noah, Brennan, Trevor, Cody and Kael; sister, Mary (Bryan) Willmert of Albert Lea, Minn.
Preceding Carol in death are her husband, Jim (Aug. 5, 2014); son-in-law, Leroy Jacobsen (Nov. 16, 2014); parents, Emil and Erna Bierstedt; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Della Meyer.
In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials be given to Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. John’s Lutheran Choir, Orphan Grain Train or American Cancer Society at www.henryolsonfuneral.com.
