Luke Bormann pitched five strong innings to help lead the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears baseball team to an 11-4 Top of Iowa Conference victory over the North Iowa Bison in a contest played on Monday, June 26.
Bormann went the first five innings to earn the win on the mound for the black-and-gold as he allowed three unearned runs on six hits with two strikeouts, walked two and hit a batter.
John Meis came in relief to hurl the final two frames. He gave up one earned run on one hit while fanning three batters and issued one base-on-balls.
The Golden Bears dented the scoreboard first in the game in the bottom of the opening frame as Joel Vaske led off with a single and moved up 90 feet as the baseball got past the Bison’s right fielder. He easily came around to score on a solid single off the bat of Drake Buscherfeld.
