Alta-Aurelia defeats Wolverines JV 12-2

WEST BEND—Alta-Aurelia defeated the West Bend-Mallard junior varsity softball squad on Monday, June 19 by the final score of 12-2 in six innings.

The Warriors plated two runs in the top of the first stanza before the purple-and-gold cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second frame, and then the visitors scored five times in the fourth to increase their advantage to 8-1.

Warriors rout West Hancock 21-0

SWEA CITY—North Union stayed perfect in Top of Iowa Conference softball play on Monday, June 19 with a 21-0, three-inning rout of the West Hancock Eagles.

The green-black-and-silver erupted for 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on nine more in the second stanza in the win.

North Union drops pair of games at Newman tourney

MASON CITY—Two good pitchers silenced the North Union offense as the sixth-ranked Warriors dropped a pair of contests on Saturday, June 17 at the Mason City Newman softball tournament.

In their first game, Osage exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off Emily Meyer to erase a 2-1 deficit into 9-2 victory over the green-black-and-silver.

Eighth straight win for Golden Bears’ baseball

POCAHONTAS—Bishop Garrigan earned their eighth straight baseball win on Thursday, June 14 with a 13-1, five-inning non-conference victory over the Pocahontas Area Indians.

The black-and-gold scored two runs in the top of the first inning followed by three more in the second. The Golden Bears erupted for seven tallies in the third and one more in the fourth as the home team scored their only run in the third stanza.

Priester leads Warriors past Okoboji 8-5

MILFORD—Talan Priester belted two home runs and pitched six strong innings to help lead the North Union Warriors’ baseball team to an 8-5 non-conference victory over the Okoboji Pioneers.

Priester hurled 6.1 innings to earn the win as he gave up five hits, three earned, on four hits while fanning eight batters, walking six and hitting a pair of batters as Drew Henderson came on in relief to record the final two outs.

Bulldogs drop NCC road contest

WEBSTER CITY—Heading on the road on Wednesday, June 14 for a North Central Conference baseball contest, the Algona Bulldogs were blanked by the Webster City Lynx by the score of 10-0 in six innings.

The home team scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings, tacked in three more in the second and added two tallies in both the fifth and sixth frames in the win.

Rasch hits Warriors past H-LP 11-1

BANCROFT—Colin Rasch ripped three hits, scored twice and knocked in five RBI to help lead the North Union Warriors’ baseball team to an 11-1, five-inning non-conference victory on Tuesday, June 13 over the Harris-Lake Park Wolves.

The green-black-and-silver scored six times in the bottom of the first stanza along with two tallies in both the second and third frames and one run in the fourth while the Wolves scored their only tally in the top of the fifth inning.

Lynx hand Algona 5-1 NCC loss

WEBSTER CITY—Webster City handed the Algona Bulldogs’ softball squad a 5-1 North Central Conference loss on Wednesday, June 14.

The Lynx used two innings to earn the victory as they plated three runs in the fourth inning and added two insurance tallies in the sixth stanza as the red-and-black scored their only run in the top of fifth frame.

Titans top WB-M JV 13-3

RUTHVEN—The G-T/R-A Titans topped the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines by the score of 13-3 in junior varsity softball contest played on Wednesday, June 14.

The home team scored four runs in both the first and second stanzas and added five more tallies in the third inning as the purple-and-gold scored a single tally in the first and two more runs in the fourth frame.

Etherington leads Algona past GH/V 13-0

GARNER—Senior Lillian Etherington homered and pitched three innings of no-hit softball to help lead the Algona Bulldogs squad to a 13-0, three-inning non-conference win over the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals on Tuesday, June 13.

Etherington belted a two-run homer while fanning four Cardinals while inside the chalked circle and issued one base-on-balls to earn the victory.

Bulldogs drop 11-inning marathon to Clear Lake 9-8

ALGONA—In a game that took almost four hours to decide a winner, Clear Lake outlasted the Algona Bulldogs softball squad 9-8 in 11 innings in a North Central Conference contest.

Seventh inning explosion leads Golden Bears past WB-M

GILMORE CITY—Bishop Garrigan erupted for 15 runs in the top of the seventh inning to blow open a 6-2 contest and went onto a 21-2 non-conference baseball win on Thursday, June 8 over the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines.

The home team opened the game with a single tally in the bottom of the first inning before the black-and-gold plated a pair of runs in the second for a 2-1 lead.

G-H/Ventura walks past Warriors 8-2

BANCROFT—Garner-Hayfield/Ventura took advantage of 11 base-on-balls and four hit batters to walk past the North Union Warriors 8-2 on Friday, June 9 in a Top of Iowa Conference baseball contest.

The visitors scored a run in the top of the first inning on three base-on-balls but the green-black-and-silver responded with a pair of tallies in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead.

North Union club Cardinals 13-0

SWEA CITY—Both Olivia Von Bank and Emily Meyer belted three-run homers in a 13-0, three-inning Top of Iowa Conference softball victory on Friday, June 9 for the North Union Warriors over the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals.

The visitors got two base hits in the opening frame and advanced runners to second and third base but the green-black-and-silver got a fly ball to end the stanza without any damage.

Warriors top Spencer 6-5 in nine innings

SWEA CITY—North Union dodged a bullet to rally for a 6-5 non-conference softball victory on Thursday, June 8 over the Spencer Tigers.

The home team trailed by one run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs before rallying to tie the game and then got the win in extra innings.

Spencer plated two runs in the top of the opening frame before the green-black-and-silver scored three times in the bottom of the second to take at 3-2 lead.

Golden Bears blank West Hancock 15-0

BRITT—Bishop Garrigan scored at least four runs in every stanza in a 15-0, three-inning softball victory on Friday, June 9 over the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa Conference action.

The black-and-gold scored four runs in both the first and second frames for an early 8-0 advantage and ended the contest early with seven runs in the top of the third inning.
