Golden Bear girls win conference title
For the first time in the school’s history, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear girls’ track team captured a conference crown. The black-and-gold took first place at the Top of Iowa Conference meet in Buffalo Center on Thursday, May 4.
The black-and-gold totaled 119.5 points in the meet to top the nine-team field as West Hancock was the runner-up squad with 109 points and Forest City took third with 102.5.
“It was a total team effort and I was really proud of the kids,” said Golden Bear Head Coach Brent DeGroote, who was named the conference coach of the year. “We got off to a great start by winning the first three relays to start the meet and that really set the tone for the evening.”
