Fast start leads Warriors

North Union scored the first 13 points of the game and never trailed in earning a key 66-44 Top of Iowa Conference girls’ basketball victory over Bishop Garrigan in a contest played at Armstrong on Friday, Jan. 27.

The win puts the green-black-and-silver back in a first place tie with Forest City at 9-2 as Bishop Garrigan and West Hancock are just one game back at 8-3 with two weeks to play in the league as the title is likely to come down to the last game between the four squads, just like last season.

The home team started fast as Kate Anderson nailed a three-pointer just 10 seconds into the game followed by a basket from Breanna Anderson and a free throw by Chloe Lofstrom.

Another three-pointer by Kate Anderson followed along with a pair of successful free throws by Lofstrom and a hoop by Samantha Hagedorn before Gracie McGuire drained a trey for the visitors’ first points with 4:04 to play in the first quarter.
