Funeral services for John “Jack” Angle of rural Swea City were Tuesday, April 23, at the United Methodist Church in Swea City with the Rev. Todd Hartsock officiating. He was laid to rest in Harrison Township Cemetery in rural Swea City.
 John Angle was born Aug. 19, 1938, to Clayton and Esta (Weiland) Angle in Algona. He passed away at the age of 80 years old on April 18, 2019, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, S.D.

On April 1, 2019, I was reunited with the love of my life, James H. Whittemore, who was waiting for me and whistling, “I’ll Be Seeing You.” He was always such a romantic, and we adored each other. We met in Bonn, West Germany, shortly after the war.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 226 N. Putnam St., Algona. Visitation is at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial Gifts may be directed to the Iowa FFA Foundation.

Funeral services for Florence Spear were celebrated Monday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m., at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka with the Rev. S. Kim Peterson officiating. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery.

Velma Wood, age 85 of Livermore, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore, with the Rev. Steve Struecker officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Livermore. Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral services for Velma K. Morz were 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 22, at the First Presbyterian Church, Algona. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Velma Morz died Friday, April 12, 2019.

Kevin Nelson, age 59 of Algona, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019, at his home. Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at the First Presbyterian Church, Algona, with the Rev. Walter Reemtsma officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Algona. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.

Judy Johnson, 71, Algona, died April 4, 2019. A memorial visitation was held Thursday, April 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona. A Celebration of Life service was at 7 p.m. led by the Rev. Chris Burtnett, pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Tawnya Heald, 42, Thief River Falls, Minn., passed away Dec. 12, 2018, in Thief River Falls. Memorial services were 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 13, at the Corwith Cemetery in Corwith. Interment was in Corwith Cemetery. Tawnya was born Aug. 26, 1976.

Naomi Engstrom, 93, died Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Paul Ferderer officiating, and burial was in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a time of shared remembrance, in which guests were invited to share memories of Naomi at 6 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Maxine Huff passed away Feb. 3, 2019. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona, with visitation one hour prior.
Maxine Mary Huff was born June 15, 1930, in Centerville. She was the youngest daughter of John and Edith (Prochaska) Stratton. She moved with her family to Algona in 1936. She grew up in Algona and graduated from Algona High School in 1949.

John Black, Jr., 55, of Algona passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at Mercy One of North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services were 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Algona, with the Rev. Cynthia Finn officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. Geraldine Gaedke, 82, of Algona passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, April 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona with the Rev. Eric Hauan officiating. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Irvington.
