A funeral service for Betty Phelps of Titonka was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at Good Hope Lutheran Church, Titonka. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Titonka. Burial was in Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery.

Delbert Carl Ostwald was born July 7, 1927, in Whittemore, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Alma Esther (Brass) Ostwald. He grew up in Whittemore and attended country school until the eighth grade. Delbert was called to active service with United States Army in 1945 and proudly served his country during World War II.

Bernadine Kellogg, age 70 of Algona and formerly Whittemore, passed away on July 22, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. A celebration of Bernieís life will be 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug, 24, at the Seely Walsh American Legion Post in Whittemore. The Lentz Funeral Home in Algona is serving the family.

Delbert C. Ostwald, 92 of Whittemore, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Whittemore, with the Rev. Mark Resner officiating. Burial is in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Whittemore. Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m., at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Whittemore.

A funeral service for John H. Boeckholt, 71 of Burt, will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Burt Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kent Madison officiating. Burial will be in German Valley Cemetery in Titonka. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23, at the church and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service. 

A funeral service for Duane Johnson is 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 22) at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church in Ledyard. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery in Ledyard with military honors conducted by the Matzener-Estle American Legion of Ledyard and the Seely-Walsh American Legion of Whittemore.

The funeral Mass for Donald Louis Bode will be Thursday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Ceceliaís Catholic Church in Algona, Iowa, with Father Sunny Dominic officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. There was also a visitation in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1119 11 Ω St. SE, Rochester, Minn., on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 5 until 8 p.m.

Lois A. Wilson, age 90 of West Bend, gained her heavenly wings on Aug. 11, 2019, at West Bend Health and Rehab in West Bend.
Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, West Bend, with the Revs. Sunny Dominic and Gerald Streit officiating.

Nathaniel Byam Jarvis, the son of Jenny Ditch and Ron Jarvis, was born June 12, 1993, in Fort Polk, La. He passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, in Ringsted.
He received his education at Fairmont, Minn., and Estherville schools.
Nathaniel worked for the city of Lakota and at Caseyís in Armstrong. For hobbies, he enjoyed disc golf, riding his bike, music and video games. His daughter Lucy meant the world to him.

Denise Cook, age 82 of Algona, passed away on Aug. 17, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with Rev. Ed Girres celebrating. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery in Algona.

Betty P. Thul, 96 of Humboldt, passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 16, 2019, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Brett Philipp Dangelser was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on Dec. 31, 1974, to Amand and Judy (Fitch) Dangelser. He passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines from a serious health condition at the age of 44 years.

Randy Joe Mueller was born Oct. 21, 1957, in Estherville, Iowa, son of Arthur Sr. and Beverly (Smith) Mueller. Randy grew up in the Lone Rock area. He graduated from Sentral High School in 1976. After high school, Randy worked as a landscaper and at the Whittemore Golf Course.
Randy enjoyed doing yard work, spending time with family and friends, golfing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and having a beer or two.

Sharon Diane Kenne was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Humboldt to Dillon and Grace (George) Patton. She received her education in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1949. After her schooling, Sharon worked various office jobs in the Humboldt and Eagle Grove area before she was married.

 Beverly E. (Stecker) Andersen was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Titonka, Iowa, to Henry and Margaret (Sleper) Stecker. The oldest of 10 children, she spent her youth on the family farm near Titonka.
She made her way to the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, Minn., where she met and married Maury Andersen, a pharmacist with a partnership in a local drug store.
