Elaine (Dodds) Shackelford, 83, of Algona, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the home of her daughter in St. Joseph, Iowa, following a yearlong struggle with illness.
Elaine, the daughter of Homer and Lula (Hintz) Dodds, was born July 7, 1936, in Algona. Her parents farmed near Lone Rock. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, but later became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She attended country school and Algona High School.

Irene L. Thilges, 94, formerly of rural Livermore, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020, at the long-term care unit of the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Jacob Junior “Bud” Peterson was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Lakota, Iowa, the son of Jacob F. and A. Irene (Weinga) Peterson. He attended school in Lakota and graduated from the Lakota High School in 1958. Following high school, Bud enlisted in the United State Marine Corp and was stationed in Japan. He was very proud of his service in the military.

Brian Maxson, age 50, of Goldfield, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. Conley Duane Metzger was born Oct. 27, 1954, in Algona, Iowa. He was the son of Duane and Viola (Potthoff) Metzger. Conley grew up on a farm near Lone Rock, Iowa, and attended Sentral High School.

Beverly Ann Berkland, daughter of Alvin and Luella (Meyer) Potratz, was born June 11, 1934, on her parents’ farm near Fenton, Iowa. She began her education at country school for grades 1-3 and then attended parochial school at Lotts Creek for grades 4-8. She graduated from Fenton High School in 1952.

James “Jim” Arthur Rode was born March 11, 1947, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. The son of Arthur and Jennie (DeBoer) Rode, Jim was the oldest of his siblings, Keith and Kent. They grew up on a family farm two miles east of Titonka. Jim was a lifelong member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Titonka.
