Marcia Miller Boatwright, age 68 of Apple Valley, Minn., passed away on July 1, 2021 of pancreatic cancer at her home. Marcia was born on July 14, 1952, in Algona. She graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1970. She attended Iowa Methodist School of Nursing where she graduated in 1973.

Funeral services for Mr. John Bernard Mertz III, of West Bend will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20 at Sts. Peter and Paul’s site of the Divine Mercy Parish in West Bend, with interment to follow in the Mertz Mausoleum, West Bend Cemetery. Friends may call on the family between 5 and 8 p.m. at the church on Monday, July 19. The Harris Funeral Home and Lentz Funeral Home are assisting the family.

Ann Brandenburg-Schroeder, known to her friends as Anna, passed away at her home in Lakewood, Colo. on her 73rd birthday, June 28, 2021. Ann was born at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa to Irma Catherine (Neppl) and Clements James Brandenburg. She was the second of nine children in the family.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church and was livestreamed on the Trinity Algona YouTube page. Burial followed at Riverview Cemetery and was livestreamed on Oakcrest Funeral Services’ Facebook page. Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, at Oakcrest Funeral Services.

Visitation for John W. Bernhard was held 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the North Kossuth Golf Club in Bancroft.
Mass of Christian burial was at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bancroft, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 9. Father Matthew Solyntjes was the officiant. John was laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft.

November 4, 1967 — June 22, 2021
 
Darren Tietz, 53, of Algona, died June 22, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester following a courageous eight -month battle with pancreatic cancer. His steadfast love of the Lord carried him gracefully through his illness and he never gave up, quietly enduring what he was given each step of the way.

Mark Taylor, 65, of Stockton, Calif., passed away on June 29, 2021, after a 30-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 23, 1956, in Algona, as the first-born child of Ralph and Evelyn (Schutter) Taylor. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Algona High School in 1974.

Robert “Rob” John Kahler was born on May 20, 1944, in Burt, Iowa. The son of Alva and Dorothy (Schiltz) Kahler. He grew up in Burt and graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School. Following high school, he went on to a trade school in Kansas City.

Funeral Mass for Monte will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in the Lu Verne Cemetery. Following internment, the family invites you to join them for a reception at the Lu Verne Community Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Humboldt County Hospice.

Bernadette Clara (Hilbert) Bradford was born on July 4, 1945, on the family farm near St. Joe, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Bernadine (Plathe) Hilbert. She grew up on the family farm where she was living when she passed. She graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1963. After graduating she went on to graduate from Iowa State University.

Funeral services for Larry Hansen were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2021. Pastor Suzanne Wobig was officiant. Interment was at Ringsted Memorial Cemetery, Ringsted.
Larry Hugh Hansen was born on Sept. 23, 1935, in Estherville, to Carl and Luella (Wiley) Hansen. He died on Oct. 7, 2020, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong at the age of 85.
