A funeral Mass for Doris will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft. The funeral will be livestreamed on the Divine Mercy YouTube page. Burial will be held in East Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Hagg-Turner Post #90 and the V.F.W. Post #2451. Brenda Ann Schamber, 81, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Jan. 21, 2022. 

Born on a farm in Whittemore, Brenda was a daughter of the late Lorenz and June Gade. Brenda earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia Seward. She served the Lord as a teacher, a librarian and an administrative assistant across Lutheran schools, seminary and TV ministry Worship Anew.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 27, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. The funeral will be livestreamed on Trinity Lutheran’s YouTube Page. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kossuth Animal Rescue or the Des Moines Christian Schools in Urbandale.

Elwyn “Bud” Stenzel, age 98, of Burt, passed away on January 11, 2022, at the Algona Manor Care Center. Graveside services were 10 a.m., Jan. 13, at Burt Township Cemetery in Burt.

Iola Faye Schneiderman was born on Sept. 25, 1948, in Waterloo to Roger and Julia (Achilles) Ginther. She passed away at her winter home in San Benito, Texas on Jan. 17, 2022, at the age of 73.

Gerald Beisch, age 78 of Algona, passed away Jan. 11, 2022, at his home. Funeral services were held on Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Gary Folkerts, age 74, of Sexton, passed away on Jan. 14, 2022, at his home. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Friday at the United Methodist Church in Algona. Burial was  in Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation was at 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.

George Clarence Berte, 83, of Phoenix, passed away on Jan. 14, 2022. George was born on Sept. 18, 1938, in Algona. He was the son of John and Margaret (Mergen) Berte. George graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1956. He completed training with the National Guard before moving to Kansas City to begin his professional career with Western Electric, while continuing his education at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Laura Jean (Barr) Johnson was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Algona, daughter of Walter and Leota (Weber) Barr. She grew up in Algona graduating from Algona High School in 1950. Laura Jean worked for St. Ann’s Hospital in directory services and continued working for Kossuth County Hospital in the dietary department. 

August 19, 1928 - January 8, 2022

James “Jim” Muller, age 93 of Whittemore, passed away on Jan. 8, 2022, at the West Bend Care Center. Services will be held at a later date.
