Maurice Weisbrod

April 20, 1925 — July 17, 2018
Funeral services for Maurice Weisbrod were held on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at the Lone Rock Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Walter Reemtsma officiating. Burial was in the Fenton Township Cemetery with military honors provided by the Kerr-Hammerstrom American Legion Post #577.
Maurice Harold Weisbrod was born April 20, 1925, to Frederick and Freelove (Curry) Weisbrod in Fenton. He attended school in Fenton and finished high school in Seneca. After high school Maurice enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in World War II from 1943-1946. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the area.
On June 12, 1948, Maurice married June Rath at the family farm near Lone Rock. Maurice hauled milk for the Lott’s Creek and Fenton Creameries and also farmed. He later became the rural mail carrier and postmaster in Lone Rock from 1970-2000. During this time he quit farming and Maurice and June moved into Lone Rock in 1978.
On June 12, 2018, Maurice and June celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary.
Maurice and June attended many ballgames, concerts and anything involving their grandchildren. He served on the Sentral School Board and was a member of the American Legion.
Maurice passed away July 17, 2018, at Accura Healthcare Center in Bancroft. He was 93.
Left to cherish Maurice’s memory is his wife, June of Bancroft; children, Cheryl Preston of Swea City; Terry Weisbrod of Lone Rock; grandchildren: Angela (Dave) Johnson of Lone Rock; Crystal Weisbrod of Fairmont, Minn.; Brent Weisbrod of Lone Rock; Michael (Jennifer) Preston of Granada, Minn.; Laura (Joseph) Edgington of Oakdale, Minn., and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Osborn and Hazel Kuecker; infant brother, Howard Weisbrod and son-in-law, Lee Preston.
