Marvel Jean (Boughton) Sherman, 91, died peacefully at the Namuag Guest House in Long Beach, Calif., on March 23, 2018, after a brief illness.
Marvel was educated in Iowa and married Donald Sherman shortly after he returned from the war in 1949. They raised their family in Algona, where Don was the service manager of Kossuth Motors. Marvels flair for fashion drew her to retail where she was employed at Sheaklys for over 20 years.

Marvel loved the outdoors whether she was sailing, boating, fishing or just feeding the ducks. She had a passion for entertaining and cooking as well as traveling. Marvel was proud of the 30 cruises she took. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary and volunteered at the VA hospital for 31 years in the Long Beach Area on a weekly basis.
She is survived by her two children, Claudia (Gary) Kujak of Long Beach, Calif., and Linda (Jeff) Sherman Oberman of Excelsior, Minn.; two grandchildren, Kaeli and Dane; a sister, Thelma Kane of Clearwater, Fla.
