May 13, 1940 — Feb. 25, 2018
LAKOTA — Lloyd Karen Janssen was born at the family farmhouse in Lincoln Township, Iowa May 13, 1940, to Ronie and Mary (Johnson) Janssen. He passed away Feb. 25, 2018, at the age of 77.
Lloyd attended school in Lakota, Iowa, and continued his education in Detroit, Mich., where he attended Bible School and then began nurses training. The medical field became his greatest love in life. After moving to Beumont, Texas, he advanced to Orthopedic Surgical Technician. There he worked many years in surgery under five orthopedic surgeons.
After he retired, he moved back to his home area for a slower pace with less pressure. He helped his parents in their last years and later worked as a truck driver for Loveall Construction in Winnebago, Minn. He enjoyed wood working hobbies, cooking specialty items and watching sports.
A fall created a debilitating injury, causing him to spend his remaining years in nursing home care. Lloyd’s faith in Jesus Christ became his central focus during this difficult transition time. He enjoyed time spent with his cousins and other family as well as friends he made at the Lake Mills Care Center. Lloyd was especially close to the ‘Wirtjes’ cousins and he appreciated their frequent visits. He died at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.
Among those meeting him at Heaven’s gates were his parents, Ronie and Mary (Johnson) Janssen, a brother, (Ralph) LeRoy and wife, (Elsie) Viola Janssen, his nephew and friend Rodney Janssen and many aunts, uncles and cousins…
Surviving Lloyd is a brother, Morris and wife Naomi Janssen, cousins, nieces and nephews.
