Brett P. Dangelser
Brett Philipp Dangelser was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on Dec. 31, 1974, to Amand and Judy (Fitch) Dangelser. He passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines from a serious health condition at the age of 44 years.
A memorial service will be held starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the American Legion Building in Fenton, with Pastor Suzanne Wobig officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be in the Fenton Township Cemetery, rural Lone Rock.
Brett attended school in Titonka and later Buffalo Center, where he graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1993. After graduation, Brett worked in the Algona area before having some health issues. These health issues resulted in Brett leading, what many would say, was an unconventional life. As many that know him would say, he created his own path. This path would lead him to live in northwest Iowa for years and then to move to the Des Moines area for the rest of his life.
Brett was always satisfied with where he was in life and cherished the simple things. Going out for a burger with friends or family, having pizza every week with his friends, or getting together for a family meal were definitely events he valued greatly. Brett expressed his love for family by always asking how everyone was doing and saying, “love you guys” often, and it was heartfelt. He was a big guy who turned into a teddy bear among animals and kids.
He is survived by his father, Amand Dangelser of Manson; brothers, Adrian Dangelser (Penny Shank) of Boone, and Jeff Dangelser (Linda) of Manson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brett was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Dangelser; an aunt, Korrine Crosser; and his grandparents.
