Program offered in Kossuth County provides resources for passing on personal possessions

ALGONA-—Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach in Kossuth County will host Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?™ on April 29 at the Burt Public Library.

The program focuses on making decisions now rather than leaving things up to others after you have passed away.

Change in weather may effect planting this week

DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig commented on the Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report released by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service. The report is released weekly April through November. Additionally, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship provides a weather summary each week during this time.

ESTHERVILLE—Hunter Thilges was honored at the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Awards Banquet in Des Moines for exceptional academic achievements, intellectual rigor, leadership, and civic growth along with four others. Thilges was nominated to join the prestigious 2024 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society All-Iowa Academic Team.

Campgrounds open

The Kossuth County Conservation Board campgrounds opened for the season on Monday, April 15. This includes the Smith Lake north and south campgrounds, Siems Park and Burt Lake campgrounds. The modern restrooms and water at individual sites will not be available at Smith Lake or Siems Park until a later date.
