Local dancers attend camp

Four local dancers attended the Ballet Des Moines Summer Intensive from July 31 to August 4. Dancers auditioned for the camp in February and selections were made in March. Students took classes taught by Ballet Des Moines artistic director, company director and company dancers.

Keeping Burt Beautiful

 

Vicki Briggs received $2,400 from the Burt Beautiful 100 to Care. Briggs introduced a project to replenish the kitchen at the Burt Activity Complex. Any money left over will go toward sandblasting and painting the Burt fire hydrants.

Museum keeps Sonnenberg alive

ALGONA—Ron Lohman looks through the new paintings by artist Russell H. Sonnenberg at the Ag and Motorsports Museum at the Kossuth County Fairgrounds.

Sonnenberg passed away on July 4 of this year at the age of 85. He grew up on a farm north of Titonka and more recently had lived in Forest City.

Mulligan Stew time in St. Joe, Aug. 16

ST. JOE—Rain or shine, the 67th Annual Knights of Columbus Mulligan Stew event in St. Joe is set for Wednesday, August 16 beginning at 5 p.m. until the stew is gone. Drive through for stew will be available. There will also be pie and ice cream for purchase and  a country store. Free games are planned for the kids.

AMU sets public hearing for water main project

ALGONA—The Algona Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees has set a public hearing for Wednesday, August 30 at 11 a.m. at the AMU office pertaining to the water main improvement project.

The date for bid letting for the project is Tuesday, August 29 at 10 a.m.

Waylon Jon Setterdahl

Tommy and Brandi (Burton) Setterdahl of Humboldt announce the birth of their son, Waylon Jon, on August 4, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

Waylon weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 inches long. He is welcomed home by a sister, Scarlett.

Maternal grandparents are Roger and Carolyn Burton of Park Ridge, Ill. Paternal grandparents are Jon and Bridgett Setterdahl of Ankeny.

City seeking proposals for Moore Street property

ALGONA—The City of Algona is seeking proposals from developers to purchase and rehabilitate a city-owned residential property located at 812 S. Moore Street.
