ALGONA — John Roeder, age 75 of Algona, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2018, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at 11 a.m., at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona with Rev. Ed Girres celebrating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m., and a Scripture Service at 7 p.m., at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
John was born March 27, 1943, in Creston to George and Mary Marcelene (Weber) Roeder. He graduated eighth grade from St Benedict then he went to St Cecilia’s school in Algona. He graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart, Dianna Altman on Sept. 28, 1963. His first job was working for The Kent garage, which later became Taylor Motor. Then he worked for North Iowa Appliance as the snowmobile and motorcycle repair man. From there he worked for Reding’s Gravel as their mechanic. John bought his own truck and became an 18-wheeler driver for nine years. In 1995 he became the sole owner along with Dianna of the Algona Vault Service. They sold their business in 2006 and did some traveling. In 2008, they bought a home in Chandler Ariz., and wintered there for 10 years. John was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
 John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dianna of Algona; daughter, Sandra (Bret) Seefeld of Oro Valley, Ariz.; son, Steven (Maki Aoki) Roeder of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Erica Roeder of Seattle, Wash. and sister, Marilyn (Leroy) Grandgenett of Algona.
 He was proceeded in death by his grandparents and parents.
