She attended Presentation Academy and received her High School diploma in 1939. After graduation she worked at Cavenaugh’s Drug Store in Whittemore, the ASC office and the Credit Bureau in Algona and Republic Drugstore in Denver. She married Clarence Bormann on Nov. 20, 1945, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore, Iowa and they lived on the same farm in the St. Joe area until 2014. Caroline enjoyed farm life and believed we have a responsibility to pass our land on to the next generation better than we found it. In November 2001 Caroline and Clarence were presented with the St. Isidore and Maria Award by the National Catholic Rural Life Conference. The award is given in recognition of a rural couple that exemplifies fidelity to a dream, a vocation, and a love that combines family, integrity, stewardship, and religion.
