Doris Leeck

Lead Summary

Feb. 14 1939 - Aug. 19 2018

Doris Leeck was born on February 14, 1939, in rural Titonka to Charles and Fredericka (Loeschen) Hipp.  She graduated from Titonka High School in 1956.  Doris attended college at Wartburg College and graduated with degrees in Education and Music.
Doris was united in marriage to Leonard Leeck on August 8, 1960, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka.  Doris taught grade school in Britt for several years before becoming a farm woman working full time with her husband on their farm.  She enjoyed the farm life, particularly working with livestock and harvesting grain in the fall.
Doris loved music, and many will remember her for playing the organ and piano at church events.  Over her sixty years of making music, she touched many hearts while playing for countless weddings, funerals, community celebrations, and care center programs.  Doris was the long-time organist at Good Hope Lutheran and, more-recently, also served the First Presbyterian Church in Woden.
Doris loved her family and enjoyed a variety of activities with them, including fishing in Canada, planting big vegetable gardens, and trying to keep her many flower beds weed free.  Her recent joy was spending time reading to her young grandson, Aidan.
Doris died on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the age of 79, in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.  Doris fought a courageous battle against cancer and, despite being weakened, did not let it break her spirit.  She was able to enjoy her last few days visiting her family.

She is survived by: her husband, Leonard of Woden; son, Chuck (Jessica Lewis) Leeck of Cottage Grove, WI; grandson, Aidan J. Leeck; sister-in-law, Maxine McCabe of Garner, many nephews, and beloved cat, Boots.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a still born brother, and brother-in-law, Maurice McCabe.
A funeral service for Doris JoAnn Leeck was held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka, IA.  Burial was at Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolence may be left at www.oakcresfuneralservices.com
