ALGONA — A memorial service for Vivian Hagen will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Inurnment will be in Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell.

Vivian Ione Hagen was born Sept. 13, 1923, to Nels and Ida Matilda (Torgerson) Petersen in Rockwell. She grew up in Rockwell graduating from Rockwell High School in 1941. Following high school, she attended Business School in Mason City. She worked for Iowa Hardware Mutual Insurance Company and Taylor Motors.

Vivian married Walter Hagen on May 10, 1947, in Rockwell. They raised their family in Mason City until moving to Algona in 1955. Vivian loved to spend time with family and golf. She was still golfing at 94. She enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church and Kossuth Regional Health Center. Vivian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Hospital Auxiliary, and Good Samaritan Auxiliary.

Vivian died on July 20, 2018, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona, at the age of 94.

Vivian is survived by her sons, Donald (Doris) Hagen of Plainfield, Ind. and Gary Hagen of Iowa City; granddaughters, Lisa (Brian) Goewey and Dionne (Josh) Bales; and great-grandchildren, Livia, Gianna, Elle, Noah, and Scarlet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (1996), parents, brother, Raymond who was killed in WWII, and twin sisters, Pauline Hook and Pearl Mann.
