ALGONA — Ruth Jorgenson, age 86, of Algona passed away on July 15, 2018, at the Algona Good Samaritan Society. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m., on Thursday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, with Rev. Cynthia Finn officiating. Visitation will be 1-2:30 p.m., Thursday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
Ruth Diane Fauerby, the daughter of Einer Christian and Clara Anna (Schendel) Fauerby, was born on Oct. 3, 1931, in Fenton. She graduated from Fenton High School in 1949. On July 1, 1949, Ruth married Donald William Jorgenson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Ruth had worked as a bookkeeper for North Central Public Service, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Algona where she had been active in UMW and Circle. Ruth had also been a member of quilt clubs, card clubs, Beta Sigma Chi and a 4-H horse club leader. She enjoyed baking, sewing, fishing and camping. Ruth was loyal to her family and would do anything for them.
Left to cherish Ruth’s memory is her husband of 69 years, Donald; children, James (Donna) Jorgenson of Independence, Jean (Peter) Solac of Minneapolis, Minn. and Diane (Bob) Knigge of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel and Claire Knigge, Ryan and Kelsey Jorgenson and Shawna Knigge Beckstrom; and seven great-grandchildren. Her parents; a great granddaughter, Mae Ruth Jorgenson; a brother, Andrew Fauerby; and two sisters, Marie Dryer and Phyllis Elbert, preceded her in death.
