Bishop Garrigan split a pair of non-conference softball games at the Mason City Newman Classic played in Mason City on Saturday, June 16 as the black-and-gold fell to Hudson 8-3 in their opening game, but bounced back with a tight 6-5 victory over Springville later in the day.
In the opener, the Pirates broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a run, scored five more in the fifth and added two runs in the sixth frame while the Golden Bears plated all three of their runs in the fifth inning.
