Former principal addresses cuts

Speaking for the first time publically since she lost her job because of Algona Community School District budget cuts, former elementary school principal Stacy Mueller shed some light on why she felt she was dismissed.
“It was to my great regret that my position was eliminated based upon a few board members’ and my leader’s outdated view of women in leadership roles,” she said during an approximately 15-minute presentation at the Algona Community School District board meeting on June 11. “I would have liked to have had the opportunity to sit down with several board members before tonight’s meeting but was not given that opportunity. For this reason, there are certain facts that I would like the public to become aware of that greatly influences our district’s credibility and finances.”
