BURT — Esther Schrader, age 97, of Burt, died on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Algona, with Rev. Cynthia Finn and Rev. Walter Reemtsma officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Algona.
 
Pauline Schrader, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Hook) Loos, was born on March 12, 1921, in Lincoln, Neb. On Jan. 30, 1943, Esther married Charles Schrader in Swea City. She worked as a lunch lady for the school system and was also employed by Exceptional Opportunities. Esther loved her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, gambling, gardening, cooking, sewing, Wheel of Fortune, Facetiming, the Tennessee Waltz playing card in Jolly Dozen Card Club, and her time spent at Town Mart in Burt with the coffee group.
 
Left to cherish Esther’s memory are her children Donna (Brian) Zwiefel of Algona, Sandra Muller of Milford, Tish (Floyd) Lavrenz of Burt, Chuck (Mary) Schrader of Emmetsburg and Kim (Bruce) Knudsen of Algona; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two sisters, Rose Dalen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Nadine Rosenbaum of Lincoln, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; grandsons, Todd Zwiefel and Scott Lavrenz; granddaughter-in-law Darah Zwiefel; brothers, Donald, Edward, John Francis, Gary and Jim and sisters, Clara Loos, Hermina Stenzel, Ann Engel, Norma Hellman.
